Work From Home Jobs That Actually Pay

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

Before covid-19 knocked on our doors work from home jobs were only for bloggers but we have all become accustomed to working from home even if the pay is less. That's because WFH saves you from tiring travels, save time, saves fuel (thank god!) and for a shopaholic like me, it saves me tons of money because now I do not have to buy clothes every fortnight for my office.

Internet is full of spam information on WFH jobs, but do they all actually help? I don't think so. Most of the job on the web are either for technical background people or for digital marketeers. So what about people like you and I who are not engineers or tech savvy? Read on to find out.

Before we move on, if you are here for get rich quick scheme you will be disappointed because all the WFH jobs I am about to list here will ask you to invest your time before you get your first payment. If you are ready to give time to any job that you get online, there's no limit on how much you will earn.

One of my client whom I coached in 2018 was depressed due to being on bed rest for a long time after an accident. He not only was on bed rest, his wife of a long time couldn't find herself a job because she had to take care of him. With nothing to do whole day apart from staring at ceiling he started working online before it was even a concept. 4 years later, he is back on his legs and can go to his old job before but now he is working from home living his best life.

While he is earning a living for his family, let's get you started to earn pocket money as of now.

WORK FROM HOME JOBS

Teaching

Yes, the old school teaching. Even if you are not a professional teacher you can earn money by teaching to students all over the world.

Only important thing here is that you should have knowledge of the subject you want to teach. You can start by teaching to students in your area, it will not only help you to revise the subject but you will become more confident in dealing with FAQs, subject, students and parents.

No matter which country you are from, you will find EdTech's hiring for teachers. All you have to do is google EdTech and click on career option. You can also find other country's EdTech and see if they are hiring teachers from your country.

Proofreader

What is a proofreader, you ask. A proofreader is a person who reads and edits all your written work whether it is your school home work, your eBook, your blog or anything that you think needs a thorough checking from grammatical point of view.

You do not need any specific qualifications or experience. You just need to have good knowledge of grammar, punctuations, formatting and spellings in whatever language you want to proofread. Yes, you read it right you can proofread in any language because people of all languages need help with their work, so don't limit yourself to English find jobs in your native language or any other language you are good in.

All you need to do is to register yourself as a proofreader on certain websites like fiverr.com and upwork.com wait for your first assignment.

Host Guest's

If you have a spare room in your house, you can start hosting people looking for a budget accommodation. Airbnb is the most famous rental option in the world, you can tie up with them or any other platform like that to earn money.

All you have to do is take care of the hospitality while guest's stay. Best part is people stay for shorter durations so your earnings will be more frequent. As a host you can decide when do you want to rent out, what type guest's you want (family, bachelors, pet owners etc.) and what amount you want to charge.

  • Become a translator

As the word suggests, translator is a person who translates data from one language to another. It can be a written text or an audio that needs translation. Unlike proofreading, becoming a translator is not ab easy job.

Though no specific qualification is required but knowledge of both languages, specially their tone is very important. Translators are required not only in formal settings but informal settings too.

While corporate companies hire full time translators (qualification needed) to communicate with their overseas staff, freelancers hire translators to communicate with their client who doesn't speak same language.

Also, with growth of online market scope of translator isn't just limited to work spaces, people who like to read books or blogs, listen to podcasts often hire translators to convert their favorite work into their own language forever.

Virtual Assistant

There is a lot of buzz around VA these days which is basically a fancy word for personal assistant. Like all PAs in the world, VA also do the administrative job for their boss. Only difference is that while PA works for one specific person, VA can work for an entire business.

There is no limit to what sorts of things a VA can offer to the clients they are working for. From data entry to travel planning to hiring staff for them. Anything that a client doesn't want to invest time in is the job of a VA.

As a VA you should be able to take off load of your client's shoulder and that's about it. There are a lot of online courses to qualify as a VA and since it's freelance work you can have as many clients as you can handle.

I hope this post helps you in finding the job that interests you and you achieve the goals you are looking forward to. While there are a lot of job portals out there, I would suggest you to register yourself on fiverr.com , upwork.com and linkedin.com to find trustable and reliable clients.
